KIRKENES - CALCUTTA BY TRAIN

The
migration art project and seminar in the locomotive depot in Kirkenes was an amazing experience. This beautiful piece of 50s industrial architechture was pushed by the 9 russian, finnish, swedish, norwegian and american artists into a 4 hour breathtaking transformation. The seminar tried to push the stubborn politicians of Kirkenes into a similar transformation. Rural readers' small contribution to this project is the building of a railroad from Kirkenes to Calcutta. The prospects & planning division has been hard at work and some results are beginning to take form on
this new addition to the reading Finnmark pages. The central idea is to extend the already existing railroad between Kirkenes and Bjørnevatn the short 10 km distance to Nikkel, Russia on the other side of the Pasvik border-river.

There, well connected to the Trans-Siberian, you will quickly be transported to Calcutta and beyond. In this way
Tippen - the monument of the old Sør-Varanger - will transform into a fundament of the new Sør-Varanger.
